LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the world's most widely used green building rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and administered through Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). The program applies to new construction, interior fit-outs, operations and maintenance, and entire neighborhoods, with the latest framework, LEED v5, alongside the widely used LEED v4.1, guiding project teams through prerequisites and credit categories covering energy, water, materials, waste, and indoor environmental quality.
Projects earn points across these categories and are awarded one of four certification levels — Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum — following a documentation review and verification process by GBCI.
The Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ) category is where industrial hygiene expertise matters most: credits for low-emitting materials, indoor air quality assessment, ventilation effectiveness, and thermal comfort all require measurable data, not just design intent.
How Qualia CIH Inc. Helps
Qualia CIH Inc. supports LEED project teams by providing the indoor air quality testing, VOC and off-gassing evaluation, and ventilation assessment data needed to document Indoor Environmental Quality credits — turning a design goal into a verifiable submission. This applies whether the goal is new construction, a certified interior fit-out, or an existing building pursuing LEED O+M certification.
LEED Accredited Professional
Michael Chermak is a LEED Operations + Maintenance (O+M) Accredited Professional. Beyond supporting building certification projects, Qualia CIH Inc. can help individuals and teams pursue their own LEED accreditation — LEED Green Associate or LEED AP O+M — with study guidance, exam preparation, and mentoring toward credentialing.
